* Introduce the Assistive Technology Education Center (ATEC) lab and new assistive technology as appropriate. Provide training on new assistive technology as needed. Manage assistive technology lab usage, including computers, software, and adaptive equipment. Assess and maintain all ATEC-related technology. Facilitate acquisition of new items or upgrades in conjunction with IT by assessing available technologies and obtaining quotes for purchase.
* Manage syncing of D&A’s Clockwork database system to Register Blast, the Campus Testing Center reservation system. Serve as point-of-contact between D&A and the Campus Testing Center regarding test proctoring. Oversee test proctoring in the ATEC lab.
* Coordinate logistics of note-taking program for D&A students, note takers, and faculty. Consult with D&A staff on note taking requests and the note taking system as needed.
* Process and fulfill course-related accessibility requests including the conversion of materials for physical or graphic accessibility (e.g. Braille, embossed images, etc.). Work with third party vendors to outsource Braille transcription needs. Troubleshoot computer software and hardware problems relevant to the production of alternate media and assistive technology. Consult with Digital Accessibility Center staff to ensure conversion of digital materials.
* Recruit, train, and supervise student associates and office assistants for the ATEC lab, coordination of office related projects, alternative text conversion, and other related services.
* Consult on material and digital accessibility as requested by ADA Coordinator, councils, boards, and campus partners. Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, departments and campus community on assistive technology access issues. Research and stay abreast of current and emerging technologies in the alternate media and assistive technology field.
* Work collaboratively with the executive director and director of campus collaboration and access to ensure that all technology is current and costs are aligned with allotted budget.
* Meet with individual students for problem solving, and information dissemination using independent judgment in interpreting D&A, University, and ADA policies and procedures.
* Conduct intake and drop-in appointments with current and prospective students and families and maintain a caseload of approximately 250 students. This includes leading assistive technology intakes for newly registered students with visual disabilities. Determine reasonable accommodations and support faculty and staff in implementation of approved accommodations. Ensure accurate records are maintained in a confidential manner in keeping with the University’s document retention policy, privacy laws, FERPA and ADA requirements.
* Prepare and deliver presentations and workshops for students, faculty, and other University personnel and/or divisions regarding disability and accessibility.
* Function as a member of D&A, assist with general functions of the office and special projects as assigned.
* Serve on assigned D&A teams in processing of services and office development. Work with other staff members on assessment goals and collecting, reviewing and interpreting departmental data.
* Bachelor's degree in education, rehabilitation services, technology domain or related field.
* At least three years' experience in assistive technology and working with students with disabilities at the postsecondary level.
* The candidate must be familiar with the needs of students with disabilities, assistive technology, software, and programs for individuals with various disabilities.
* Excellent supervisory and interpersonal, communication skills. Professional demeanor.
* Experience reviewing psycho-educational reports, working within the guidelines of the ADA, ADAAA and Section 504.
* Master's degree in education, rehabilitation counseling, technology domain, or a related field and at least three years of experience in assistive technology and working with students with disabilities at the postsecondary level.
