Desktop Support Technician

100% On-Site – Austin, TX

Contract with Potential for Extension

Summary

This Desktop Support Technician will work within the Client Services Department and provide end user support. The role involves handling end‑user tickets entered through the system via calls unresolved by the helpdesk support team, ticketing system, or walk‑up technology. Basic support covers laptops, desktops, devices, tablets, and printers. The technician will also support Office 365, One Drive, and other third‑party apps such as Web Ex.

Tickets per day: 100–200, split among 40 individuals.

Job Description
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, and repairing break‑fix desk‑side computer related products and legacy systems, including hardware, software, networking, and operating systems.
  • Provides call taking and site‑specific support.
  • Provides maintenance and support on legacy products.
  • Installs and maintains PCs and associated software, networks, servers, and peripherals.
  • High level of expertise in PC operating systems (Microsoft, Linux, Unix) and networking software, anti‑virus software, and all tier‑one manufacturer server, PC, printer products, OEM network devices, and document processing products.
  • Supports network products from operational and maintenance perspectives.
  • Performs installs, moves, adds, and changes (IMACs) as required.
  • Tests and certifies PCs, networks, servers, and client‑approved applications.
  • Provides follow‑up on problems or escalations, taking responsibility for potential or desired follow‑up.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains a functional understanding of company service solutions.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • May have project management responsibilities for smaller, less complex projects.
  • Experience in troubleshooting software and hardware problems.
  • Knowledgeable in servers, storage systems, Microsoft, Linux, Unix applications, network protocol internetworking, configuration, and possesses advanced PC support capability.
  • Ability to test and certify PC networks, servers, and software applications and associated peripherals.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of and follow up on client‑specific internal procedures and service delivery requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may depend on specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
