System Analyst - POS Austin, Texas Direct hiring w/benefits

The systems analyst will interface with end clients business teams to review requirements for products to be configured on the POS and will enter data and configure menus in Simphony, to ensure a successful product promotional launches. Product promotional launches occur 6-10 a year.

This role requires experience performing requirements analysis and process improvement along with the ability to collaborate across various IT and business functions. In addition, it will require the analyst to understand how Simphony configuration affects barista POS experience & to use that understanding to refine requirements. In enhancing/supporting existing systems, an effective systems analyst will contribute relevant technical, functional, and process knowledge to ensure a consistent user experience for baristas.

The analyst will report to the POS Dev Manager in the POS Technology organization. The scope of work affects ~ 40,000 POS registers across North America. POS supports ~12,000 products in stores at any point in time.

Requirements
  • Reviews product data provided as part of a promotional launch & creates/updates specifications for the updated POS menu & checkout experience.

  • Attention to detail, and ability to question, evaluate & reason about direct & indirect consequences of configuration changes to the POS.

  • Utilizes LEAN techniques to develop business process designs and improve operations via process re-engineering efforts.

  • Effectively assesses improvement opportunities (productivity/efficiency gains, cost savings, etc.).

  • Utilizes agile delivery methodologies and participates on scrum teams in the execution of solution delivery projects.

  • Considers overall user technology experience in thoughtfully designing engaging solutions.

System Configuration & Testing
  • Performs application configuration (i.e. create attributes, menus, workflows, and UI changes) in support of solution delivery.

  • Supports data conversion. Performs the extract, load, and validation of converted data.

  • Supports solution testing efforts by developing test plans, preparing test environments, performing test execution, and

  • Validating test results.

  • Uses data queries to support validation of data conversion and test results.

Production Support
  • Participates in call rotation (once every 6 weeks).

  • Drive system support, working trouble tickets and escalating to teammates according to priority and required expertise queue, completing resolution within SLA.

  • Develops system proficiency and builds subject matter expertise through root cause analysis.

  • Coordinates issue resolution with vendors and/or cross-functional teams. Provides timely and thorough communication regarding issue status/resolution with end-users and team.

  • Creates and maintains systems documentation (e.g. Wiki, Knowledge Base Articles, Confluence).

  • Develops and facilitates system training.

  • Uses database query tools to write ad-hoc queries for mass data analysis and operational reports.

Leadership
  • Attention to detail.

  • Thought leadership in understanding POS configuration choices.

  • Self-directed; is successful with minimal direction from more senior analysts providing escalation when necessary.

  • Partners with business teams, responding quickly and thoroughly to issues and requests.

  • Provides constructive input and perspective to team conversations.

  • Able to lead small streams of design/work.

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of systems development lifecycle and IT operations.

  • Configuration knowledge of relevant applications/modules/platforms.

  • Ability to use business knowledge, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to design and deploy highly reliable and sustainable technology solutions.

  • Applies knowledge of business principles and technology practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional activities.

  • Simphony experience - Oracle application.

  • 2+ years SQL skills.

  • Proficient with Excel and all Microsoft products.

  • Basic networking skills.

  • Retail experience - back end & Front of house (if possible).

  • Possible experience at Starbucks as a barista or retail specialist.

  • Ability to document processes. Jira/Confluence experience.
