Service Now Architect (SPM / PPM Specialist)
Location: Texas (Remote – Only TX Candidates Eligible)

Role OverviewState of Texas is seeking a highly experienced Service Now Architect to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of Service Now platforms with a strong focus on Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Project Portfolio Management (PPM). This role requires a true architect-level professional, not a developer or administrator, with proven experience designing large-scale Service Now solutions in complex enterprise and regulatory environments.
Key Responsibilities- Own end-to-end Service Now architecture, design, implementation, and platform integrity
- Provide High-Level Designs (HLD) and technical specifications for Service Now solutions
- Lead hands‑on configuration, customization, development, and integrations
- Serve as a technical authority and quality gate for all Service Now deliverables
- Service Now application modules
- Integrations with third‑party enterprise systems (e.g., Azure Active Directory)
- ITIL / ITSM process automation
- User provisioning integrated with internal and external systems
- Service Now security architecture
- Architect integrations with custom‑built, COTS, and SaaS applications
- Participate in process flow analysis and redesign in collaboration with Project Managers
- Work closely with business stakeholders to enhance operational workflows using Service Now
- Ensure cross‑module configurations do not negatively impact platform performance
- Understand and leverage Service Now table structures and data models
- Share best practices and provide consultative guidance throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborate effectively with remote teams
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be a Service Now Architect with enterprise‑scale implementation experience
- SPM / PPM module implementation – MUST
- Minimum 5+ years hands‑on SPM/PPM implementation experience
- Extensive experience across ITBM, ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, IRM, Sec Ops, Dev Ops, Change Management
- Strong hands‑on expertise in Service Now configuration, development, and integrations
- Experience architecting inbound/outbound integrations using Azure AD, SSO / Trusted Sources, MID Server, REST / SOAP Web Services, email integrations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive‑level presentations, technical leadership, mentoring junior team members
- Strong background in technical documentation (architecture, design, implementation, configuration), core ITSM process implementations
- Service Now System Administrator and/or Implementation Specialist Certification
- Technical knowledge in Java, JavaScript, SQL is highly desirable
