Data Scientist

Akkodis is seeking a Data Scientist for a Contract with a client in Austin, TX(Remote). This role requires strong Databricks expertise with advanced skills in Spark, PySpark, and distributed data processing.

$53/hour to $56/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and PySpark.
• Building and maintaining data models, including lifecycle management and performance‑optimized data assets.
• Implementing observability frameworks with logging, metrics, and alerting to ensure pipeline reliability and transparency.
• Executing advanced performance tuning, debugging, and cluster optimization across distributed processing workloads.
• Managing Delta Lake governance, lakehouse patterns, and ensuring best‑practice data quality and compliance.
• Collaborating with cross‑functional teams while leveraging Git/CI/CD practices to deliver secure, automated, and maintainable workflows.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in data engineering, including 3–5 years hands‑on with Databricks.
• Advanced proficiency in Spark/PySpark, SQL, and distributed processing, with proven performance tuning and cluster optimization.
• Demonstrated expertise in DBT (Core or Cloud), Delta Lake governance/lakehouse patterns, and mature Git/CI/CD and observability (logging, metrics, alerts).
