- **** Job Details:**## Purpose To provide assistance in preparing technical documents for high frequency active sonar systems deployed for the U.S. Navy in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).## Responsibilities
* Supports project leads by performing the duties of a support writer on multiple projects. This includes assisting with the writing and maintenance of technical user guides, O&M manuals, and other documents in HTML, PDF, and Microsoft Word formats as well as maintaining assigned Gitlab issues.
* Participates in testing and verification of sonar components, as needed, in office and field environments to develop and validate technical documentation.
* Participates in peer editing and publishing processes.
* Participates as a member of the documentation team internal IT working group and supports the management of IT resources, processes, and internal documentation.
* Provides photography and videography support to the documentation team, including capturing and editing multimedia content as needed.
* Other related functions as assigned.  ##

Required Qualifications
* HS/GED
* Three years of clerical experience including some in technical writing.
* Accuracy in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and proofreading.
* Knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Office, Mad Cap Flare, or Git Lab
* Strong organizational skills and focus.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
* Willingness to learn software applications and tools as necessary.·
* Able to work under pressure and accept supervision.·
* Ability to work independently as well as with peers and management.
* Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.  US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.  ##

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in English, technical writing, or similar field.
* Some work experience, internship experience, and/or coursework in technical writing or communications.
* Demonstrated knowledge or ability to produce software, hardware, or technical documentation.
* Experience in writing or editing sonar system documentation.
* Experience with Git Lab or other source control tools.
* Demonstrated knowledge or ability to express and present key technical principles.
* Knowledge of content management systems such as Mad Cap Flare, Word Press, or other similar authoring tools.  ## General Notes An agency designated by the federal government handles the investigation as to the requirement for eligibility for access to classified information.
