Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead complex software releases spanning multiple products and engineering teams. This role will provide the systems-level program leadership needed to connect scope, technical dependencies, release milestones, risks, and readiness across the Software organization.
ResponsibilitiesSoftware Release Planning & Execution
- Own integrated planning and execution for complex software releases spanning multiple products, platforms, and engineering teams.
- Establish and drive release milestones, critical paths, cross-team commitments, and readiness criteria from development through production.
- Partner with engineering and technical leaders to translate release scope and technical constraints into executable plans.
- Identify and manage cross-product technical dependencies, integration points, risks, and blockers that impact release outcomes.
- Assess the impact of scope, architecture, technical, and schedule changes and drive appropriate mitigation or recovery plans.
- Drive resolution of cross-team issues and expedite material risks and trade-offs with clear impact and options.
- Establish objective visibility into release health, milestones, dependencies, risks, scope changes, and key decisions through program dashboards, metrics, and reporting.
- Lead release and readiness reviews and provide concise, data-driven executive reporting that surfaces program health, critical risks, trade-offs, and decisions needed.
- Drive accountability for decisions, actions, and cross-team commitments through closure.
- Define and mature scalable software program and release management processes and operating rhythms.
- Establish consistent practices for planning, milestone management, dependency and risk management, change control, and release readiness.
- Use execution data, dashboards, metrics, and retrospectives to identify systemic bottlenecks and improve software delivery predictability.
- 8+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, Software Engineering, or a related technical role, with experience leading complex software programs across multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of software development and release life cycles, with the technical acumen to understand system architecture, integration dependencies, and engineering trade-offs.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage complex cross-team dependencies and risks, and drive programs to successful outcomes without direct authority.
- Demonstrated experience developing program dashboards, metrics, and executive-level reporting that translate complex program information into clear insights, risks, and decisions for leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with complex software platforms involving multiple products, services, or hardware/software integrations.
- Familiarity with Agile/SAFe, Dev Ops, CI/CD, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience incorporating software security requirements, vulnerabilities, security assessments, or security readiness into software development and release processes.
- Experience helping establish or mature technical program management or software release management practices.
Success in this role means complex software releases are managed as integrated technical programs rather than collections of individual team plans. Cross-product dependencies and risks are identified early, teams have clear milestones and accountability, and leaders have timely, data-driven visibility into release health, readiness, risks, and decisions needed to deliver with greater predictability.
