Company Overview

Client is a leading developer in the autonomous vehicle and delivery robot industry, building and operating autonomous vehicles across the globe. This req supports Austin, TX fleet operations team, which keeps its autonomous vehicles running day to day by taking in technical issues from safety drivers and operators, supporting vehicle dispatch and returns, and routing problems to engineering.

  • Work in the autonomous vehicle space, supporting the day-to-day operations of a live autonomous vehicle fleet.
  • A strong entry point for someone with general technical support experience who wants more hands‑on exposure: a mix of Unix troubleshooting, real-world operations, and light vehicle and hardware support.
  • Fast-paced environment with direct visibility into how the fleet runs, working closely with safety drivers, operators, and engineering teams.
  • Full‑time, ongoing contract on a set weekday schedule (Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM CT).
  • Full benefits package via Hire Art, including subsidized healthcare, an FSA, pre‑tax commuter benefits, employer‑paid short‑and‑long‑term disability and life insurance, and a 401k.
Role Overview Support Specialist
  • Hire Art is helping client hire 1 Support Specialist to support the day-to-day technical operations of its autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin, TX.
  • In this role, the candidate will be the first point of contact for technical issues raised by safety drivers and operators, triage and document those issues using Unix tools and a ticketing system, elevate them to the right engineering teams, and handle light hands‑on vehicle readiness tasks in the garage.
  • The role calls for someone with a general technical support background (at least 1 year in technical support, operations support, or a similar role) who works in the Unix command line daily and communicates clearly with drivers, operators and engineers. Industry experience, brand‑name employers, and academic background are each rated 3 out of 5 in importance, so solid support experience and Unix comfort matter more than an AV or big‑name background.

Candidates also need a driver's license held for at least 3 years and must be comfortable moving vehicles and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Typical Activities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues raised by safety drivers and operators during active shifts.
  • Triage, document, and elevate vehicle and system issues to the right engineering teams through Slack and a ticketing tool such as Jira or You Track.
  • Use Unix command line tools (e.g., journalctl, scp, cat, vim) for issue investigation, log review, and troubleshooting.
  • Support vehicle dispatch and return, including startup and shutdown procedures, charging status checks, and confirming log uploads.
  • Perform light hands‑on tasks such as reconnecting cables, checking onboard device indicators, and confirming system readiness.
  • Move vehicles around the garage as needed, with occasional on‑road driving possible in the future.
  • Document updates to workflows, procedures, and support practices so knowledge is shared across the team.
Target Profile
  • At least 1 year of experience in technical support, operations support, or a similar support‑focused role.
  • Comfortable working in a Unix environment daily, with strong working knowledge of basic commands and utilities (cd, ls, rm, cp, scp, cat, vim, uptime, journalctl).
  • Experience using Slack as a primary communication…
