Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Staff Analytics Engineer role will help strengthen its digital analytics clickstream platform by owning technical strategy, architecture, and delivery outcomes. This position defines measurement standards end-to-end and serves as the primary subject matter expert for clickstream data collection across web and mobile.
Role OverviewAs a Staff Analytics Engineer, you will establish the end-to-end measurement approach for behavioral signals, ensuring event schemas and tracking implementations meet analytics, reporting, and experimentation needs. You will translate stakeholder questions into unambiguous instrumentation specifications, then drive validation and ongoing improvements to data collection quality.
Key Responsibilities- Define the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for clickstream data collection across the organization, aligned with business objectives and KPIs at scale.
- Own data collection outcomes across web and mobile products, accountable for completeness, accuracy, and usability of clickstream data.
- Set measurement definitions, including what gets measured and why, and specify how behavioral signals and event schemas support analytics, reporting, and experimentation.
- Convert stakeholder questions into precise instrumentation specifications, including events, parameters, identifiers, schemas, and data contracts for implementation across platforms.
- Identify instrumentation gaps proactively and drive resolution with engineering and QA teams.
- Audit tagging and tracking health through data analysis, surface improvement opportunities, and influence future measurement decisions.
- Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex data discrepancies and tracking issues, and drive architectural changes to prevent recurrence.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, analysts, and peers, sharing instrumentation expertise across the organization.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for clickstream data collection and measurement strategy, owning the lifecycle from defining what gets measured and why through implementation, validation, and downstream enablement.
- Drive cross-functional alignment on architecture decisions and represent the data and analytics function in technical leadership and architecture review forums.
- 8-10+ years of experience in digital analytics or clickstream tracking implementation at enterprise scale, with a record of owning outcomes end-to-end.
- Experience architecting, implementing, and operating enterprise clickstream platforms using technologies such as Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment, Snowplow, Google Tag Manager, and Kafka.
- Hands-on experience designing event-based data models for web and mobile, including event taxonomies, parameter and identifier design, and data contracts.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into precise instrumentation specifications and orchestrate delivery across Product Engineering, Analytics, QA, and platform partners.
- Strong JavaScript experience for tracking implementation, plus fluency with browser and mobile debugging tools and experience designing scalable data pipelines.
- SQL proficiency in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake) to validate data quality, investigate anomalies, and own analysis.
- Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, and consent frameworks, including GDPR and CCPA, and their implications for instrumentation design.
- Experience enabling self-service analytics at scale through standardized metrics frameworks, reporting taxonomies, or dashboards.
- Demonstrated use of AI-enabled tools such as Claude, Gemini, Cortex, Copilot, or similar as a force multiplier in daily work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce precise technical specs and documentation, explain tradeoffs clearly, and influence across engineering, product, marketing, and analytics.
- Experience with consumer digital products at scale, such as real estate, media, or marketplace platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing, or a relevant field.
- Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment, Snowplow, Google Tag Manager, Kafka
- JavaScript, SQL, Snowflake
- GDPR, CCPA
