Job Description Overview We are seeking a talented and dedicated linguist to join our team in support of the Texas Department of Public Safety - Criminal Investigations Division (CID). The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and be proficient in Spanish or another language, in addition to having excellent command of the English language. Essential
Job Duties
* Conduct linguistic analysis and research on assigned projects.
* Translate and interpret documents, conversations, and audio recordings from the target language(s) to English and vice versa.
* Provide linguistic expertise and support across various departments.
* Collaborate with other linguists and professionals to ensure accuracy and consistency in language use.
* Participate in language assessment tests and evaluations. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
* Proficiency in Spanish or another language, demonstrated through a language assessment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Strong analytical and research skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good to excellent computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred in Linguistics, Foreign Languages, or a related field preferred.
* Experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistic research.
* Familiarity with linguistic software tools and databases.
* Knowledge of cultural nuances and sensitivity in language use. Additional Information Work Environment
* Must be willing to work weekends.
