Tax Litigation Paralegal – Private Client Services. The Paralegal, under supervision, assists lawyers with document and information management, factual and legal analysis, discovery, and trial support.
Essential Functions- Assist lawyers with all phases of case support including document/information management, factual and legal research and analysis, discovery, hearings, and trial support.
- Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, other documents, and notebooks.
- Review and synthesize historical case documents.
- Summarize articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions.
- Prepare material for in-house and outside distribution.
- Draft basic legal documents and correspondence.
- Keep track of case/matter deadlines and interface with lawyers regularly to ensure deadlines are being met.
- Maintain departmental form files and systems.
- Use and demonstrate knowledge of e-discovery platforms such as Relativity and DISCO.
- Maintain current and accurate time records.
- Maintain positive contact with clients, lawyers, and business professionals, and observe confidentiality of client matters.
- Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as required by the position, consistent with the firm’s attendance expectations.
- Work additional hours beyond the normal schedule as may be required to meet firm and/or client demands.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Demonstrated skills in document/information management.
- Ability to express self effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with firm lawyers, business professionals, client personnel, and other professionals.
- Possession of strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Ability to work well under pressure and independently.
Knowledge of various phases of litigation, discovery, tax disputes, probate, and general trial procedures. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Education And ExperienceRequires a 4-year degree and 7-10 years of paralegal experience. Paralegal certificate preferred. Experience with litigation court procedures in the United States Tax Court and Texas state courts a plus. Experience with automated litigation support software such as DISCO and/or Relativity required.

CompensationWashington state compensation range: $68,870.00 to $ annually
