Summary

Under the general direction of the Chief State Epidemiologist, performs senior‑level staff services functions. Works within the Office of the Chief State Epidemiologist to plan, direct, and oversee staff services functions such as human resources, training, records management, property management, and coordination of staff support functions.

Essential Job Functions
  • Coordinate staff services functions of the Division (40%) – promote uniformity, monitor assignments, represent Division, manage projects, consolidate information, support staff engagement.
  • Provide technical expertise in human resources systems (25%) – screen, interview, recommend actions, conduct orientations, update procedures, assist workplace improvement efforts.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports (20%) – develop policies, proofread reports, recommend actions, assist in meeting agendas.
  • Develop and maintain office procedures (10%) – recommend training, monitor purchasing actions.
  • Other duties (5%) – disaster response/COOP activation, alternate shifts as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of leadership, management and human resource principles.
  • Skill in using personal computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio.
  • Skill in strategic planning, personnel and human relations policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage tasks, prioritize, schedule, motivate staff, and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Ability to analyze facts, devise solutions to operational problems, and function as a team member.
Initial Screening Criteria
  • At least 3 years’ experience in assisting and planning staff support functions.
  • Experience preparing policies, procedures, complex correspondence, and reports.
  • Experience coordinating large‑scale assignments across multiple areas.
  • Experience communicating with senior or executive‑level staff.
