Performs routine administrative and supervisory program work. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Functions- Assists in planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating offender review and release program operations.
- Assists in the development of program guidelines, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with program policies and procedures; monitors caseloads to ensure compliance with conditions of parole.
- Conducts quality assurance reviews.
- Assists in program analyses and research studies; prepares and reviews reports on effectiveness of program activities and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Confers with offenders, parolees, law enforcement, and other governmental agencies; assists in special investigations regarding offender-related information and problem solves program concerns.
- Assists in preparation of training, procedural manuals, educational materials, and program information; prepares administrative reports, studies, specialized research projects, and program budget requests; maintains a database to generate statistical reports.
- Performs criminal information searches using Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history system access.
- Supervises the work of others; provides training and technical assistance in the program area.
- Performs marginal duties as directed.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.
- Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
- Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
- Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
- Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in problem-solving techniques.
- Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.
- Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
- Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
- Skill to establish goals and objectives.
- Skill to conduct interviews and prepare technical reports.
- Skill to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures.
- Skill to train and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
- Conditions include working inside and outside, around machines with moving parts, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
- Equipment used: computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, and automobile.
