Position Overview

BASIS Texas is seeking a Facilities and Capital Projects Manager in the Austin Metro Area to join our nationally ranked team. Under the general supervision of district leadership, the manager will ensure a high degree of operational facilities and capital project success at campus and district levels across all BTCSI schools.

Essential Functions
  • Facilities Support/Management (60%)
    • Identify, develop, and update maintenance programs to improve operational readiness, safety, and financial position.
    • Plan and coordinate facility staff training to increase efficiency across HVAC, IAQ, fire systems, vertical transportation, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, finishes, structure, building envelope, grounds, and landscaping.
    • Audit campus‑level maintenance performance and ensure consistent, effective preventive maintenance programs.
    • Ensure property inspections are completed, documented, and compliant with OSHA and other regulations.
    • Support warranty tracking, scheduling, and quarterly updates for district leadership.
    • Assist campus facilities coordinators in scope of work, procurement, and contractor performance evaluation.
    • Collaborate with the PMO and campus teams on all maintenance, repair, and capital projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Capital Projects Management (40%)
    • Conduct site inspections to determine the need for facility capital improvements and renovations.
    • Assist in preparing annual maintenance budgets and 3–5 year capital expenditure forecasts.
    • Track and coordinate scheduling and funding of capital projects with the PMO.
    • Review contracts for compliance and maintain vendor relationships.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Required Knowledge
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of facilities management experience in supervision, operations, and project management; preferably in a multi‑location organization or school setting.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Broad knowledge of facility systems and management.
  • Knowledge of forecasting capital expenditures and prioritizing projects.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal laws and policies as they relate to students, staff, and the school system.
  • Proficiency in Fire, Life Safety, OSHA, and ADA rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other required computer skills.
