Responsibilities

The Billing Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Billing Department in all office locations, and projects that often deal with complex billing issues that require broad conceptual judgment and initiative with minimal direction. Essential job functions include:

  • Assigns, coordinates and audits the work of the billing function.
  • Supervises staff and coordinates workflow of the billing department.
  • Responsible for projects that require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex billing issues.
  • Administers billing process including month end closing procedures.
  • Responsible for the monthly distribution of the proformas along with accompanying reports.
  • Supervise the review of the proformas returned from attorneys and the processing of them into accounting system.
  • Administer the mailing of client invoices directly from the billing department or submitted electronically.
  • Process and provide copies of client invoices and backup documentation on an as needed basis.
  • Responsible for reviewing various reports to administer deadlines and maintain data that may require continuous follow up.
  • Provide assistance with building and maintaining billing templates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • 4-year degree with major coursework in related field required; or combination of education and commensurate work experience required.
  • 7 years’ management experience in related field required.
  • Knowledge and general understanding of accounting principles in a service organization.
  • Technical experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Technical experience with Elite 3E preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience.
The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $86,000 - $175,000
  • State of Colorado: $79,000 - $141,000
  • State of Illinois: $78,000 - $151,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $93,000 - $169,000
  • State of Maryland: $83,000 - $126,000
  • State of Massachusetts: $86,000 - $164,000
  • State of Minnesota: $86,000 - $142,000
  • State of New York: $80,000 - $173,000
  • State of Washington: $83,000 - $158,000
  • State of Vermont: $85,000 - $163,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $111,000 - $163,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
