Description
The Senior Project Manager leads TRI Austin’s project management and client services team while managing assigned client accounts. This role provides technical and commercial direction, resolves project questions, and remains accountable for scope, schedule, communication, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and coordinate project management and client services staff.
- Serve as the primary owner for assigned client accounts and maintain clear, timely communication.
- Review project requirements, select appropriate test methods, and navigate disconnects among specifications, permits, and client instructions.
- Prepare quotes, define scope, manage schedule commitments, and confirm changes affecting cost or delivery.
- Monitor active projects, address delays or risks, and maintain coverage during absences and peak workloads.
- Review unusual, borderline, or failing results and work with technical staff determine the appropriate client response or re-testing plan.
- Ensure reports and supporting project records are accurate, complete, and consistent before release.
- Maintain client and project information in company systems and support orderly account handoffs when needed.
- Participate in scheduled Saturday coverage during active seam testing and provide technical support for weekend work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Senior Project Manager is expected to make routine technical and commercial decisions for assigned work and to document the basis when needed. Matters requiring a professional engineering opinion or seal, changes to accreditation scope, significant regulatory consequences, or commercial terms outside established agreements are escalated to the Executive Director, Director of Operations, or other appropriate authority.
Requirements Requirements- Relevant experience in geosynthetics, construction quality assurance, materials testing, or a comparable technical services environment.
- Demonstrated project management and team leadership experience.
- Ability to interpret project specifications, plans, submittals, permits, and standardized test methods.
- Experience managing client relationships, including discussions involving scope, schedule, cost, and test results.
- Sound judgment, accountability, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability for scheduled Saturday work when required.
- Experience with landfill CQA, geotechnical materials testing, field seam testing, or geosynthetic manufacturing.
- Experience with ERP or LIMS platforms
- Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 or A2LA-accredited laboratory.
- Experience developing staff and documenting competency.
Work across departments with respect for established responsibilities and constraints. Communicate clearly, remain composed in difficult situations, and stay focused on practical resolution.
- Relocation reimbursement assistance will be available to cover specific, approved moving expenses, up to a designated cap for all new hires.
