Area Manager, Management Operations Management

Our client, a leading national supermarket chain, is seeking a seasoned Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of stores in the
** Welkom, Free State
** region. This executive role involves strategic planning, operational oversight, and driving business growth across multiple locations. The Area Manager will be responsible for ensuring consistent brand standards, optimizing store performance, managing budgets, and leading a team of store managers to achieve ambitious targets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the retail grocery sector.

This is a key position that requires extensive travel within the

• Supervise and manage the operations of a designated group of stores in the
  ** Welkom, Free State
  ** area.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to maximize store profitability and market share.
• Monitor financial performance, manage P&L, and control operational costs for each store.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of store managers, providing guidance and support.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, operational standards, and brand guidelines.
• Drive initiatives to enhance customer experience and satisfaction.
• Manage inventory levels, supply chain efficiency, and loss prevention strategies.
• Conduct regular store visits and performance evaluations.
• Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify strategic advantages.
• Implement merchandising and promotional plans to drive sales.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Retail Operations, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in retail management, with at least 4 years in an Area or Regional Management capacity.
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple store locations and driving P&L improvements.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
• Excellent understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and financial management.
• Proficiency in retail management systems and data analysis.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the
  ** Free State
  ** region.
