About the Role

We’re looking for a Roastery Assistant to join our Austin team. You’ll work in our small local team moving between roasting support, packing, shipping, quality checks, and general roastery upkeep. If you enjoy physical work, love good coffee, and want to grow within a specialty coffee environment, this is a great opportunity.

What

You’ll Do

In this role, you will support the daily operations that keep our roastery running smoothly, including:

Roasting & Production Support
  • Assist with roast prep and basic roasting tasks as trained
  • Batch green coffee and support roast scheduling
  • Pack, weigh, label, and heat‑seal coffee to spec
  • Operate packing and bagging equipment accurately and safely
  • Complete wholesale, retail, online, and café orders
Logistics & Delivery
  • Deliver coffee locally using our electric vehicle
  • Maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers
  • Manage shipping workflows and order dispatch using Shopify and other tools
Quality & Consistency
  • Maintain accuracy in labels, stickers, and packaging
  • Conduct weigh checks, calibrations, and basic QC tasks
  • Support cupping, sensory checks, and product knowledge development
  • Help ensure every order meets Proud Mary’s expected “unboxing” experience
Maintenance & Cleanliness
  • Maintain a clean, organised roastery environment
  • Perform routine equipment care and cleaning
  • Assist with machinery checks and maintenance
Inventory & Admin
  • Support stock management across roasted coffee, green coffee, and packaging
  • Organise storage areas and support efficient workflow
  • Participate in inventory counts and data entry
  • Update production logs, roast logs, and digital tracking tools
  • Use systems including Cropster, Trello, Teams, Excel, and general production platforms
What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Clear communication and a positive, team‑focused approach
  • Reliability and comfort with physical tasks (lifting 30–40 lbs)
  • Solid computer literacy and ability to learn new systems
  • A valid driver’s licence & clean 3 year driving check for local delivery routes
  • Comfort working in a production or factory‑style environment
Bonus Experience

(Not required, but great to have)

  • Coffee production or roasting experience
  • Warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics background
  • Basic understanding of cupping, green coffee, or roast profiling

If you’re ready to take the next step in your coffee career, we’d love to hear from you.
