We’re looking for a Roastery Assistant to join our Austin team. This is a hands‑on role that supports our roasting and production operations, helping ensure every bag of Proud Mary coffee is roasted, packed, and delivered with care. You’ll work in our small local team moving between roasting support, packing, shipping, quality checks, and general roastery upkeep. If you enjoy physical work, love good coffee, and want to grow within a specialty coffee environment, this is a great opportunity.
WhatYou’ll Do
In this role, you will support the daily operations that keep our roastery running smoothly, including:
Roasting & Production Support- Assist with roast prep and basic roasting tasks as trained
- Batch green coffee and support roast scheduling
- Pack, weigh, label, and heat‑seal coffee to spec
- Operate packing and bagging equipment accurately and safely
- Complete wholesale, retail, online, and café orders
- Deliver coffee locally using our electric vehicle
- Maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers
- Manage shipping workflows and order dispatch using Shopify and other tools
- Maintain accuracy in labels, stickers, and packaging
- Conduct weigh checks, calibrations, and basic QC tasks
- Support cupping, sensory checks, and product knowledge development
- Help ensure every order meets Proud Mary’s expected “unboxing” experience
- Maintain a clean, organised roastery environment
- Perform routine equipment care and cleaning
- Assist with machinery checks and maintenance
- Support stock management across roasted coffee, green coffee, and packaging
- Organise storage areas and support efficient workflow
- Participate in inventory counts and data entry
- Update production logs, roast logs, and digital tracking tools
- Use systems including Cropster, Trello, Teams, Excel, and general production platforms

- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Clear communication and a positive, team‑focused approach
- Reliability and comfort with physical tasks (lifting 30–40 lbs)
- Solid computer literacy and ability to learn new systems
- A valid driver’s licence & clean 3 year driving check for local delivery routes
- Comfort working in a production or factory‑style environment
(Not required, but great to have)
- Coffee production or roasting experience
- Warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics background
- Basic understanding of cupping, green coffee, or roast profiling
