Technician Job Purpose

The Quality Technician Inspector is responsible for all matters pertaining to the inspection methodologies and acceptance criteria for machined mechanical parts. He/she will provide assistance to operators, machinists, and quality engineers for line‑side inspection of CNC machined components, first‑piece inspections, in‑process inspection, final inspections, and first‑article inspections.

Nature of Duties
  • Must have working knowledge of a CNC machining environment, calibration and manufacturing inspection techniques, including knowledge of operating and/or programming CMMs, measuring dimensions, using precision instruments, basic inspection tools, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparator, pin gauges, etc., to ensure product meets specifications/drawings.
  • Ability to calibrate basic inspection tools and maintain accurate calibration records in database.
  • Ability to correctly read and interpret engineering drawings and perform dimensional & physical inspection of mechanical parts.
  • Must have working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and able to communicate this knowledge to machinists on interpretation of drawings or engineering specifications.
  • Must be able to develop inspection reports for new products, first piece, in‑process and final inspection of machined features at the completed router operations to ensure conformance to specifications/drawings.
  • Report findings to machinists, supervisors and management. Solve for unknown values, using knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, or geometry of basic shop math. Initiate reject tags, discrepancy reports and inspection reports in accordance with company‑approved plans & procedures.
  • Respond to any Stop Work, On‑Hold situation involving quality/process issues. Analyze problems, determine corrective action and issue point‑process/engineering changes as necessary to achieve customer requirements and be accountable for the outcome of a successful or failure decision.
  • Comply with any duties, tasks or projects set forth by Quality Assurance Supervisor or Quality Assurance Manager.
Education And Experience
  • High School diploma, 2 years in manufacturing/CNC machining, Quality Control/Quality Assurance or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years in manufacturing/CNC machining, or equivalent, or experience in quality inspection in a CNC manufacturing environment or related field.
Preferred
  • American Society of Quality Certified Quality Inspector
  • American Society of Quality Certified Quality Technician

Salary Range (annual): $49,920 - $52,000 ($24.00 - $25.00). Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
