A Stone Setter is responsible for setting and securing gemstones or other decorative materials into various jewelry pieces that are prepared for assembly. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a good understanding of different stone setting techniques.

NOTE:

Stone setting knowledge not required; on-the-job training will be provided.

• Inspect stone and ring assembly for proper preparation and fit.
• Place stones in settings using tweezers or other precision tools, and secure them by pressing prongs, applying cement, or using other methods.
• Use hand tools to tighten bezels or prongs to stone and close small gaps.
• Choose appropriate tools and methods for setting each stone, such as prong, bezel, or pave settings.
• Make minor adjustments to setting when necessary.
• Determine the need and use of appropriate adhesive where necessary.
• Emery bezel or prong with hand tools when necessary to remove marks from setting operation.
• Ensure that all stones are securely set and meet quality standards.
• Keep the work area and tools clean and well-maintained.

• Knowledge of tools involved in the successful operation of this function.
• Ability to work with small, delicate items with precision.
• Good hand-eye coordination and steady hands for handling tiny stones and tools.
• Experience with various stone setting tools and techniques.
• Ability to perform tasks that may require sitting or standing for long periods.

• High School diploma from an accredited institution.
• Previous experience in similar setting preferred.
