Austin, TX | Onsite | Manufacturing
We don't need someone to walk in and run an established SIOP process. We need someone who knows how to build one.
Ashton North is partnering with a growing, privately held manufacturer in Austin to identify a hands-on planning leader who can strengthen the connection between customer orders, materials, inventory, manufacturing capacity and delivery commitments.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the details, solving problems with real data and building processes that actually work on the manufacturing floor.
The company manufactures highly configurable, predominantly make-to-order products. Its planning and ERP capabilities are evolving, and the immediate priority is getting the fundamentals right, not introducing an elaborate SIOP framework before the organization is ready.
What You'll OwnManufacturing planning: Translate historical demand and customer-order activity into component requirements, inventory plans and achievable production schedules.
MRP and BOM accuracy: Help strengthen Net Suite planning, validate bills of materials, maintain reliable planning parameters and investigate discrepancies between system data and actual production.
Inventory management: Establish and refine safety stock, reorder points, inventory targets and replenishment logic while balancing service levels and working capital.
Capacity planning: Work directly with Manufacturing to understand cycle times, labor availability, bottlenecks, material constraints and realistic production capacity.
Order Management: Connect Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Logistics to establish accurate customer commitments, identify delivery risks early and resolve exceptions.
Analytics: Build and validate planning models in Excel, investigate variances, identify root causes and translate findings into practical operating decisions.
Process improvement: Work alongside Engineering, Operations, Procurement and other teams to improve planning discipline, system accuracy and cross-functional communication.
SIOP development: Build the foundation for a more structured SIOP process as the business and its capabilities mature.
Hands-on experience in manufacturing planning, materials management, inventory management, supply chain planning or SIOP.
A strong understanding of how customer demand translates into BOMs, component requirements, material availability, production capacity and delivery commitments.
Experience working with MRP/ERP systems, including BOMs, item masters, planning parameters and inventory controls.
Strong Excel and analytical skills. You should be comfortable building models from raw data, checking the math and explaining the results without relying entirely on dashboards or automated tools.
Practical knowledge of safety stock, reorder points, lead times, inventory variance and capacity planning.
Experience working closely with manufacturing operations and understanding how products are physically assembled.
The ability to communicate across departments, challenge assumptions constructively and build support for change.
A curious, collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves approach to solving problems.
We're especially interested in people who have worked in small to mid-sized manufacturing environments
, where planning responsibilities are broad and processes aren't always fully developed.
Experience with make-to-order, configure-to-order or complex assembly manufacturing is highly desirable.
Net Suite experience is strongly preferred.
You might currently be a Senior Supply Chain Analyst, Materials Planning Manager, Manufacturing Planning Manager, Supply Chain Manager or SIOP Manager.
Your title matters less than what you've personally built, improved and owned.
Why This Opportunity? You'll work directly with an operations leadership team that understands what mature SIOP should look like but recognizes that getting there starts with sound fundamentals.
You'll have the opportunity to improve the planning infrastructure, influence how departments work together and help a growing manufacturer scale without losing operational discipline.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who enjoys both the analytical and human sides of manufacturing.
