At Aeon, we design, build, and test modular weapon systems for ground and air platforms. We take pride in our dynamic and small team that allows us to iterate, build and test quickly. If you are looking to solve hard technical problems with a team of passionate engineers in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment, Aeon is the place for you.
We are looking for a Manufacturing Technician to help build a world‑class manufacturing organization as we transition from new product introduction (NPI) and development into full‑rate production of complex guided‑munition subassemblies and final assemblies. This is a foundational builder role where you will assemble complex products while helping establish the processes used to build them. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, you will document hands‑on build knowledge, support the development of work instructions and inspection checkpoints, and help transform early production activities into repeatable, scalable manufacturing processes.
This is a unique opportunity to build both the product and the manufacturing system that will support future production.
This is a full‑time, in‑person role located in Austin, TX with plans to move to Cedar Park, TX early 2027.
What you’ll do at Aeon:- Perform assembly operations per available drawings, control plans, and evolving work instructions
- Co-author initial work instructions, build sequencing, and inspection checkpoints with Manufacturing Engineering, drawing on hands‑on build knowledge not yet documented
- Diagnose build issues independently; propose fixes and judge when a deviation can proceed versus needs engineering sign‑off
- Support fixture and tooling setup; provide input on fixture/tooling design based on what's actually workable on the floor
- Flag nonconformances and help define inspection checkpoints in coordination with Quality
- Maintain traceability by following part numbering and revision control procedures as they're implemented
- Use and help validate digital work instructions, including device‑triggered steps (torque tools, sensors, guided assembly)
- Train and check out other operators/technicians on builds you own as the team grows
- High school diploma/GED; technical or vocational training a plus
- MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Significant hands‑on assembly experience with complex or precision components, ideally including experience where you were relied on as a go‑to build expert
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot build issues independently and communicate clearly about tradeoffs and risk
- Comfortable working without a fully defined process, and helping build documentation as you go
- Attention to detail and comfort working in a quality‑critical environment
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience with GD&T interpretation
- Experience handling and assembling electro‑mechanical assemblies and familiarity with related protocols and standards to perform such work
- Prior experience with an MES platform
