Summary
As part of the Congregation team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Kids Ministry Associate (KMA) will serve alongside the Kids Ministry Director (KMD) to promote a healthy children’s ministry, and ensure that the children at their congregation are hearing the truth of God, experiencing the love of Christ, and having fun KMA will also safely coordinate any childcare event planned by the congregation staff team.
The KMA will work closely with the congregation team and family ministries team. The KMA will report to the Kids Ministry Director.
- Assist KMD to lead Kids ministry in alignment with the vision and strategies developed by the congregation staff team and the Family Ministries team.
- Recruit and screen childcare contract workers to meet the childcare needs for events.
- Ensure all childcare contract workers are paid correctly and in a timely manner.
- Assist with coordinating Sunday Kids volunteers for Sunday morning worship as needed.
- Provide administrative support to the KMD to aid in reaching ministry goals, including database maintenance, coordination of ministry calendar, and data tracking.
- Assist with ensuring the faithful execution of curriculum, Sunday ministry, policies, and volunteer and childcare worker screening in accordance with church safety policies.
- Assist with teaching, coaching volunteer teams, and serving in classrooms on Sunday mornings when necessary.
- Participate in the pastoral care and shepherding of Kids Ministry volunteers.
- Assist with regular and effective communication to parents about programs, teaching, resources, and general promotion of the Kids Ministry to the Congregation.
- Oversee weekly supply ordering and on-site storage of materials.
- Attend and participate in all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services (including major holidays), staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, Central Kids Ministry events, continuing education events, training opportunities, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in early childhood education or a related field.
- Previous experience shepherding children and parents in the gospel.
- Experience leading a volunteer team of more than 20 people, preferred.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement ministry programming. Integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Strong ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, with dependability and excellence.
CommunicationHas clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication in various settings. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Ability to engage, interact with, teach, equip, and train children in a large group setting.
Detail Oriented & Organizational SkillsProven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promotes a continuous improvement mentality.

Physical Demands and Work Environment- Occasional lifting of objects or children, up to 30 pounds.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
- Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, mouse, and similar machines.
- Setup at our South and Downtown congregations involves pulling/pushing bins in and out of storage, unloading/loading plastic bins, and setting up tables and chairs after pulling them out of bins.
