Overview

Medical/Surgical - Med Surg RN - Travel Nurse ediate travel nurse opening in Austin, TX. The right RN should have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience.

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physicians during examination and treatment of patients.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician.

• 1-2 years of recent acute care experience.
• Required certifications: BLS, NIH, 1 year of experience.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Med Surg Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to lift up to 20 pounds easily; lifting may be up to 50 pounds when moving or lifting patients. Fast-paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.
