Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision of the House Supervisor, according to hospital policies and procedures, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.

What qualifications you will need:

Experience Required (Minimum amount of specialty related experience required to perform the role at this level.)

2 years minimum recent experience in two areas of hospital nursing patient care. 1-3 years / 3-7 years (as listed in original).

Education Required (Minimum formal academic training which typically provides the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance.)

Required degrees include high school graduate equivalency, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or MSN as noted in the original content.

Note:

Required associate degree in Nursing for hires after 05/01/2020; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or active compact license. If applicable for Texas, apply for and obtain Texas RN license within the specified timelines.

Certification requirements (upon hire):
Current BLS per policy, NIHSS annually, ACLS/ALS, and other certifications as listed. Completion timelines: upon hire or within 30/60/90 days as specified.

All Registered Nurses caring for stroke patients will be required to: maintain annual NIHSS per department direction; maintain 8 hours of stroke education per year; complete the mandatory stroke core measure module on Health Stream per department direction.

Preferred: certification in area of specialty.
