Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Central/North Austin)
Texas Health Action (THA) is a community-informed non‑profit organization dedicated to culturally affirming health services, with expertise in serving LGBTQIA+ people and those impacted by HIV.
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our Central Texas Austin Kind Clinic to evaluate, plan, and provide care for patients under direct supervision of the attending Physician. Full‑time, exempt, 40 hours/week, with some night and weekend hours.
What you will do- Perform clinical procedures under direction of attending Physician and per approved protocols.
- Assess, take history & physical, and develop patient plans of care.
- Monitor patient progress and maintain medical records per standards.
- Communicate with supervisory physicians to review records and care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, staff, and agencies to coordinate optimal care.
- Work independently and as part of a team with all clinical staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent listening, confidentiality management, and discretion.

- Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to organize workload, meet deadlines, and manage change.
- Attention to detail while seeing the big picture.

- Adaptability, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Physical ability to perform office and patient care tasks; lift to 25 lbs.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing or Physician Assistant Program.
- 2+ years outpatient experience as NP or PA.
- Unrestricted, valid Texas license as NP or PA.
- DEA and DPS registrations for prescription writing.
- Current CPR certification.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ and other marginalized groups.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Experience with Athena EMR software.
- Understanding of healthcare insurance preferred.
- Bilingual:
English and Spanish.
Position within salary band 49, starting at $111,701 annually. Signing bonus: $7,000 paid in installments ($3,000 initial, $2,000 at 6 months, $2,000 at 1 year). Relocation bonus available for candidates moving from >100 miles outside greater Austin area.
