Job Summary and Qualifications
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Nursing Unit, and according to hospital policies and procedures, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for the assigned patients.
What qualifications you will need:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The SDHRN ensures all nursing care provided meets the standard of care. The SDHRN demonstrates knowledge of national patient safety goals, hospital core measures, performance improvement processes and service excellence quality initiatives. The SDHRN is knowledgeable of all policies and practices relative to the role and duty performed. The SDHRN demonstrates at minimum, basic computer skills related to the role and care of the patient.
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David's North Austin Medical Center.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program or current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree; minimum of one year experience in Staff RN role and charge experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required:
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:
* apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire
* obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license
BCLS certification as per SDH policy
Preferred:
Previous experience in clinical nursing; ACLS certification as per SDH policy
