Petco is a category‑defining health and wellness company focused on improving the lives of pets, pet parents and partners. As a Pet Stylist (Groomer) at Petco, you will provide professional grooming services, ensuring each pet receives exceptional care and leaves looking and feeling their best.

• Perform professional grooming services—including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning—according to pet parent instructions and company policies.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers.
• Prioritize animal safety and well‑being, monitor pets for discomfort or injury, and promptly report concerns to pet owners and store management.
• Assess each pet’s individual needs, considering coat type, skin conditions, and temperament.
• Provide exceptional customer service to pet parents, addressing inquiries and offering grooming recommendations.
• Educate pet parents on at‑home care practices and product usage to promote pet well‑being.
• Maintain a clean and safe grooming area, disinfecting tools and equipment, and performing daily/weekly cleaning tasks as required.
• Apply Petco grooming policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure safety, quality, and consistency in all activities.
• Support and supervise entry‑level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader.

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program or prior professional grooming experience and/or completion of a technical grooming training program.
• High‑school diploma or GED preferred, though not required.
• Independent judgment and problem‑solving ability to address routine and moderately complex grooming situations.
• Strong commitment to productivity, performance, and ownership of role in the salon.
• Detail‑oriented execution of grooming services according to highest standards.
• Passion for animals and desire for a long‑term grooming career.
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues, and behaviors.
• Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and team members.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by the grooming schedule.
