Arbor Crew Leader
Texscape Services – Austin, TX
Base Pay Range$25.00/hr - $35.00/hr
Job SummaryResponsible for the direction of crew activities on job site, according to pre-established schedules, standards and procedures to provide a high quality of service, as directed by Arbor Foreman and Arbor District Manager.
Minimum Qualifications- At least 2 years of professional tree work experience
- Valid driver license issued by the state where employed is strongly preferred
- Valid ISA Certified Tree Worker Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Basic tree care principals, pruning techniques, tree disease
- Tree climbing (above 15 ft.), cabling, and safety procedures
- Aerial rescue; safe work practices; proper PPE; hazard recognition;
Dig Alert procedures and tree removal techniques; basic knots and rope operation for rigging; emergency tree rescue procedures - Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and Arbor Foreman
- Proficiency in verbal English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Frequently climbs trees above 15 feet, performs work on branches or truck platforms
- Constantly needs to talk, hear, see, sit, stand and walk
- Clear vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
- Frequent use of hands to manipulate tools
- Reaches, bends, twists, stoops, crouches, climbs, and balances on narrow and/or slippery surfaces
- Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs
- Frequent work with mechanical objects and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and loud noise levels
- Understand and implement job specifications for each site
- Assign daily tasks to crew members and ensure compliance
- Conduct daily job site safety briefing and tailgate meeting with crew
- Safely climb trees using climbing hooks and belts, or climb ladders to access work area
- Complete daily paperwork timely and accurately
- Report equipment in need of repair to shop mechanic
- Supervise safe loading and unloading of equipment
- Assist Arbor Foreman with initial and ongoing training of crews
- Discuss job site observations with Arbor Foreman
- Trim and reshape trees, remove low-hanging branches
- Cable, brace, tie, bolt, stake, and guy trees and branches to provide support
- Cut away dead and excess branches using climbing equipment or buckets and chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, clippers
- Lower branches with ropes or block and tackle
- Transplant and remove trees and shrubs, prepare trees for moving
- Safe operation of shredding and chipping equipment, feeding brush and limbs into machines
- Safe operation of arbor vehicles and equipment (boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, sprayers, power saws, chainsaws, pole pruners, backpack blowers, hand tools)
- Inspect trees for disease or pest problem
- Clean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment
- Show up to work each day on time; complete all tasks within time expectations; adhere to company dress code; wear clean clothes; follow inclement weather policy and sick leave procedures
