Overnight Emergency Veterinarian
Austin, TX | Full-Time | Sign-On Bonus + Relocation Assistance + sign on bonus!

A growing specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in the greater Austin area is seeking a Full-Time Overnight Emergency Veterinarian to join its collaborative ER team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys fast-paced medicine, critical thinking, complex cases, and the ability to collaborate with experienced emergency and specialty clinicians. Experienced ER veterinarians are encouraged to apply, as well as motivated general practitioners interested in transitioning into emergency medicine.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

Emergency medicine is demanding, and having the right clinical support makes a difference. Veterinarians here have access to:

  • Experienced emergency technicians
  • Strong overnight clinical support
  • Specialty consultation and collaboration
  • Advanced diagnostic imaging
  • Surgical and critical care resources
  • Dedicated leadership support
  • A collaborative, team-oriented environment

Emergency clinicians are not expected to manage challenging cases in isolation. The hospital emphasizes communication and collaboration across emergency and specialty medicine, providing doctors with additional resources when managing complex or critical patients.

Clinical Environment

The hospital provides 24/7 emergency and critical care along with specialty services and continues to expand its clinical capabilities.

Emergency veterinarians have access to advanced diagnostic and treatment resources, including:
  • CT imaging
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Advanced oxygen therapy
  • In-house diagnostic capabilities
  • Surgical and specialty consultation

The caseload offers significant variety, from routine emergencies to complex and critically ill patients.

Schedule & Quality of Life

The hospital recognizes that a sustainable career in emergency medicine requires consistency, appropriate support, and time away from work.

Highlights include:
  • Consistent overnight schedule
  • Dedicated technician support
  • Collaborative ER team
  • Specialty backup
  • Focus on long-term career sustainability
  • Supportive leadership and team culture
What We're Looking For
  • DVM or VMD from an accredited institution
  • Current Texas veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative and compassionate approach to patient care
  • Commitment to high-quality, evidence-based medicine

Previous emergency experience is valued but is not necessarily required. Veterinarians with a strong GP background who are motivated to transition into emergency medicine are also encouraged to explore the opportunity.

Compensation & Benefits

A competitive compensation and benefits package is offered and may include:

  • Competitive base salary with production opportunity
  • No negative accrual
  • Sign-on bonus
  • Relocation assistance
  • CE allowance and CE days
  • Professional dues and licensing coverage
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off
  • Parental leave
  • Professional development support
  • Employee pet care benefits
  • Mental health and wellness resources
Why Austin?

Austin offers a combination of career opportunity and quality of life, with access to the Texas Hill Country, outdoor recreation, lakes, restaurants, live music, and numerous surrounding communities. Texas also has no individual state income tax.

This is an opportunity to practice high-level emergency medicine in an environment where collaboration, clinical autonomy, and physician support are priorities.

If you're an experienced ER veterinarian—or a GP veterinarian interested in making the transition into emergency medicine—we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
