Quality Technician
” will be based in ……., reporting to ……
In charge of performing product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs, first article inspections, calibration, inspecting flat blank layouts, out of box audit (OBA), and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Purge material. Ensures raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company standards. General documentation updates (Quality alerts).
Responsibilities:- Audits processes, tests, and inspects products and/or develops, compiles, and evaluates statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products.
- Works from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions, and supplier correction actions.
- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
- Selects processes to be audited from manufacturing areas and checks features including ESD (electro-static discharge), handling practices, documentation, training, and process integrity.
- Selects products for audits at specified production stages and tests for qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic characteristics.
- Records audit data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from standards.
- Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards, programs, or reports to optimize quality within equipment capabilities.
- Performs calibration on inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Maintains gage track program, prints list of gages due for calibration monthly, and follows up with calibration.
- Sends gages out for calibration, maintains calibration records.
- Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for research.
- Downloads quality information from the quality system for QA reports.
- Researches engineering test results and implements process changes to resolve issues.
- Performs out of box audits (OBA) as required.
- Provides factory hold-up to identify and resolve issues with purchased parts, materials, and manufacturing.
- May perform receiving inspection.
- Reviews the beginning-of-shift quality auditor assistance and validates the check list.
- Ensures scrap disposition at MRB within 24 hours.
- Ensures customer implementation activities are in place.
- Ensures compliance with SSYMA requirements (boats, goggles, gloves, ear plugs).
- Reviews SPC data and confirms actions are effective.
- Validates that tooling and gauges are working properly (microscope, magnifier, etc.).
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training, or related experience.
- Typically requires 2 years of related experience.
