Job SummaryThe “Quality Technician” will be based in ……., reporting to ……. The role is in charge of performing product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs, first article inspections, calibration, inspecting flat blank layouts, out of box audit (OBA), and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. The candidate will purge material and ensure that raw materials, in‑process and finished products meet company standards.
General documentation will be updated (Quality alerts).
H – 6:00pm‑6:00am;
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday (20% diff).
- Audit processes, tests, and inspect products and/or develop, compile, and evaluate statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products.
- Work from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions and supplier corrective actions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
- Select processes to be audited from predominantly the manufacturing areas and check for a variety of features, including electro‑static discharge and handling practices, documentation, training and process integrity.
- Select products for audits at specified stages in the production or post‑production process, and test products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or cosmetic characteristics.
- Record audit data using statistical quality control procedures.
- Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards, programs or reports to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Perform calibration on inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Maintain gauge track program, print list of gauges due for calibration at the beginning of each month and follow up with calibration.
- Send gauges out for calibration, maintain calibration records.
- Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into a computer for research purposes.
- Download quality information from the quality system to be used for QA reports.
- Research engineering test results and implement process changes to resolve problems.
- Perform out of box audits (OBA) as required.
- Provide factory hold‑up to identify and resolve issues associated with purchased parts, materials and manufacturing.
- May be required to perform receiving inspection.
- Review at the beginning of the shift the Quality Auditor’s assistance and validate the checklist.
- Scrap disposition at MRB in less than 24 hours.
- Ensure that customer implementation activities are in place.
- Meet the SSYMA requirements (boats, goggles, gloves, ear plugs).
- Review the SPC data and confirm actions are effective.
- Validate that tooling and gauges are working properly (microscope, magnifier, etc.).
- High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training, or equivalent experience.
- Typically requires 1 year of related experience.
