Job Overview

Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba) is accepting applications for Sushi Chefs. In this role, you will serve as a vital member of our team to enrich the culinary and service experience for our guests. Sushi Chefs make an average of $25 per hour (hourly base rate + tips) as well as great opportunities to grow with the organization long‑term. We are currently offering a $1,250 sign‑on bonus (payable after 90 days following the completion of training).

• Acquaint yourself with the menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine.
• Learn and perfect sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams.
• Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product.
• Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guests.
• Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grow.
• Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu.

• Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees.
• Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards.
• Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs; stock inventory, and perform restocking duties.
• Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
• Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold.
• Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements.
• Ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives.
• Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces.
• Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs.
