Join the team at Central Market to create and display artisan cakes and pastries in our Austin, Westgate location.

Central Market is a specialty grocery destination that emphasizes fresh, high‑quality ingredients and excellent customer service. The Bakery & Pastry team creates a wide assortment of desserts and baked goods for in‑store sales and special events.

• Mix, shape, bake, wrap, and stock products.
• Ensure quality control of all products before delivery to the sales floor.
• Maintain sanitation in the department.
• Organize back‑storage, freezer, walk‑in, and production areas.
• Read and execute daily production list.
• Calculate weights, discounts, percentages, and volumes as needed.
• Provide customer service, including answering questions and handling phone orders.
• Monitor product quality and shrink.
• Order and receive products and supplies; maintain transfer records.
• Prep, wrap, price, sell, and continuously stock products.
• Demonst‑re or prepare customer samples for self‑serve.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales.

• Experience with commercial production preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Lift and carry moderate to heavy loads (min. 50 lb); bend, reach, push, and pull.
• Ability to work overnight and flexible schedules (days, evenings, weekends, holidays).
• Ability to inform customers about ingredients.
• Values diversity.
• Requires 2‑5 years of related experience.
