This is a one‑year position with the opportunity for renewal based on funding and performance. The position includes a full‑time benefits package. The job is FLSA exempt (not eligible for overtime). The Texas Field Station Network seeks a forward‑looking Field Station Associate for the Brackenridge Field Laboratory, Stengl Lost Pines Biological Station, and Hill Country Field Station. This role will assist station managers in developing and planning facility operations, land stewardship, and long‑term natural history studies.
Responsibilities- Assist station managers in developing policies and standard operating procedures to improve user experiences.
- Assisting the maintenance and improvement of field station habitats and trail systems, including brush clearing, mowing, transect maintenance, clearing roads and fire breaks, and invasive species mitigation.
- Help update and implement habitat management plans for stewardship and research.
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement of building infrastructure at the field stations.
- Work with station managers, graduate and undergraduate research assistants, and interns to establish and support long‑term research studies and basic natural history surveys at the field stations, including baseline plant, arthropod, soil microbial diversity, phenological surveys, networked ecosystem studies, and other studies initiated by field station research staff.

- Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
- One or more years of suitable experience in the field of specialization.

- Experience with institutional administration.
- Excellent communication skills with faculty, administration, students, and the public.
- Stewardship of land to support diverse ecosystems for research and teaching.
- Driving required:
Class “C” operator’s driver’s license. Applicants must provide a current three‑year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a resident. Employees required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing.
$35,568 + depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions- Ability to work in adverse field conditions (heat, humidity, bugs).
