PurposeThis position will need to provide entry level skills for the installation, repair and maintenance of telephone equipment.
Responsibilities- Creates pathway and pulls wires for data, voice, security purposes.
- Responsible for the installation and routine or emergency maintenance and/or repair of telecom cabling and network equipment. Driving university owned vehicles to job sites will be required for this position. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy UTS
157. - Reads schematic diagrams to install telecommunication wires and equipment.
- Maintains physical and online data records on Pinnacle and other databases.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience installing telecommunications horizontal cabling.
- Experience using Microsoft windows software, basic computer skills.
- Class “c” driver’s license.
- 3 or more years’ experience installing horizontal telecommunications cabling.
- Experience installing wireless access points.
- Experience in a telecommunications or construction field working at the University of Texas at Austin.
This job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. The driving record will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a university owned vehicle.
SalaryRange
$44,000 + depending on qualifications
