Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis for any employer without sponsorship. This position requires maintaining internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans for work use.
Responsibilities- Creates pathways and pulls wires for data, voice, and security purposes.
- Responsible for installation and routine or emergency maintenance and/or repair of telecom cabling and network equipment, and driving university‑owned vehicles to job sites.
- Reads schematic diagrams to install telecommunication wires and equipment.
- Maintains physical and online data records on Pinnacle and other databases.
- Performs other related functions as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience installing telecommunications horizontal cabling.
- Experience using Microsoft Windows software and basic computer skills.
- Class “C” driver’s license.
- 3 or more years’ experience installing horizontal telecommunications cabling.
- Experience installing wireless access points.
- Experience in a telecommunications or construction field at the University of Texas at Austin.
- Standard office conditions with repetitive keyboard use.
- Requirements for manual dexterity and use of ladders and stairs.
- Exposures to all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, chemical fumes, electrical and mechanical hazards.
- Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Occasional overtime and/or on‑call may be required.
$44,000 + depending on qualifications.
