Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University's operations. PurposePerforms preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostic testing, and repairs of building systems and components.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs of mechanical systems including pumps, fans, compressors, and specialty equipment; acquire field data, tag, and apply equipment labels.
- Acquire parts and maintain stock of material and supplies.
- Assist electricians, plumbers, refrigeration mechanics, carpenters, and others to meet shop goals.
- Perform basic electrical tasks such as replacement of lamps and ballasts.
- Use precision instruments to determine flow rates, pressure drop, etc. to ensure proper alignment and operation of belts, chains, couplings, bearings, and other drive components.
- Read blueprints, work from specifications, and follow written and oral instructions; document work on work orders.
High school graduation or GED. Two years of experience in applicable maintenance or construction trade. Excellent communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Adherence to safety rules and regulations.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- Associate degree or graduation from technical/vocational trade school.
- More than three years of experience in applicable trade.
- Experience with diagnostic equipment (multimeters, power quality meters, accelerometers, etc.).
- Experience in a university setting or at the University of Texas.
- Experience in more than one craft or trade.
- Working knowledge of computerized systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints.
- Ability to write reports summarizing work activities.
- Stable work history.
- Successful completion of the Leader Development Program.
$45,760 + depending on qualifications
