Carpenter Helper - Central Texas at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in Austin, TX is currently seeking a Carpenter Helper to join our team! The Carpenter Helper assists the carpenters on the construction site. This role assists with tasks such as repairing, constructing, or dismantling wooden/metal/concrete objects on construction jobsites. The position must be able to identify a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment. The position will also keep work areas clean when needed and prepare material and sites for the work activity.

- Assists the carpenter with carpentry duties including building forms, chutes, rails, stairs, and other structures as required.
- Maintains a clean jobsite, picks up all tools and equipment and secures tools on job sites each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Performs material handling and storage.
- Loads and unloads material from trucks, manually hauls and/or hoists materials.
- Establish the punch list process and close‐out procedures with the Project Manager, Owner, and Architect.
- Ensures that work is performed in a safe manner.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Reports problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.
- Must be physically fit.
- Must have good eyesight.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work at heights and on roofs.
- Must possess the aptitude, interest, and ability to operate machinery.
- Will be required to wear PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, and work boots.
- May be required to travel between jobsites. Ability to travel within a 50‑mile radius from Kyle, TX is expected.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions to include heat, humidity, dust, cold, and at times inclement weather. The noise level at the jobsite is usually loud. Must be comfortable and able to work in unpleasant and hazardous environments.
Physical DemandThis position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous activities under adverse field conditions. It requires climbing ladders and equipment, working on scaffolds, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying objects. It requires good manual dexterity, multi‑limb coordination, and the ability to quickly move arms to signal, grab, pull, push, carry, or turn objects, materials, or tools.
