The successful Apprentice Electrician will learn and understand electrical code through the NEC; assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment in commercial and industrial settings; and maintain a safe work environment at all times while working on construction projects as part of the Prism Electric team.
Responsibilities- Assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial, industrial, and large multi-family settings.
- Prepare the work area for equipment installation.
- Install or assist in installing electrical components.
- Connect wiring and equipment according to code and job specifications.
- Operate equipment only if trained and certified. (
Note:
Powder activated tools, JLG lifts, and other operations may require certification and training before operating.) - Set up and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers, and cable vacuum systems.
- Read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances per drawings or plans.
- Secure and lock up equipment after use.
- Journeyman trade certification in a related construction trade will be considered highly desirable.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
- Exhibit excellent working knowledge of the building codes.
- Show strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- 1-3 years of experience on commercial or industrial projects.
- High School Graduate or G.E.D.
- All hand-tools and PPE.
- Dependable vehicle for transportation to and from work.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Licensed to work in Texas.
- Legal to work in the U.S.
Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), respirator when required. Able to work 8–10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, and the ability to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds.
The role is more than 70% physical work, with repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
