Controls Service Technician – Austin, TX
Trane Technologies invites you to join our team as a Commercial HVAC Controls Service Technician in the Austin, TX area.
OverviewIn this role you will leverage your HVAC skills to troubleshoot, diagnose and service a variety of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. You will be the first line of customer service, ensuring satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing and repairing equipment on site.
Responsibilities- Start up, commission and repair new HVAC and controls systems using electronics, digital control, airflow, refrigeration theory, and mechanical techniques.
- Serve as the customer contact, servicing products and equipment at assigned projects, maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with team leader and customer to understand on‑site installation and repair requirements, forecast issues, gather materials and synchronize work.
- Maintain current knowledge of Trane direct digital control products.
- Enforce safety to the highest standards, record asset use and conditions.
- Work overtime, extended weeks and occasional overnight stays as business requirements demand.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; 3‑5 years of HVAC/controls experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and a handheld computer (Smartphone, iPad, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major traffic violations. DUI, hit‑and‑run, license suspension or reckless driving infractions within the previous 3 years disqualify.
- Previous experience with Direct Digital Control systems preferred; EPA certification preferred.
- Legal operation of a vehicle with seat belt; safety gear (helmet, goggles, harness, boots) required.
- Physical ability to twist 90 degrees, squat, reach over head, stand on concrete for up to 4 hours, lift up to 40 lbs. regularly, and lift more than 40 lbs. occasionally.
- Safe use of a 350 lb. ladder, maneuver confined areas (30”×45”), access rooftops up to 50 ft.
- Exposure to variable weather, moving mechanical parts, heights, electrical shock, noisy equipment, and other variable environmental conditions.
- Safety Sensitive designation.
Base Pay Range: $23–$42 per hour.
