The mission of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is to promote and support a workforce system that creates value and offers employers, individuals and communities the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity. We are looking for a Unit Support Assistant (USA) to join the Vocational Rehabilitation Department team. This position is located at 9001 N Interstate 35, Austin, Texas.
Applicants must be Texas residents or willing to relocate to Texas. TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those currently on student or postgraduate visas.

The Unit Support Assistant (USA) performs highly complex (senior-level) social service or case management, administrative support, and technical program assistance duties utilizing the Re Hab Works system and other TWC automated resources. Work involves collecting, preparing, and reviewing cases to facilitate access to medical, educational, social, and other services; providing intervention and frequent contact with individuals, facilities, and service providers; and may train others.
Works under limited supervision, using initiative and judgment.
- Assist in researching and analyzing statistical data.
- Respond to customer referral sources and provider inquiries.
- Develop and maintain tracking systems.
- Coordinate performance appraisal systems for the VR Manager.
- Provide mentoring.
- Safeguard confidential information.
- Support the VR Manager and the Unit Support Coordinator’s small caseload and the Unit support team.
- Work as a member of the office team to foster safety and security of office staff, customers and property at the workplace.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- 18 months experience in office practices and office support work using a personal computer in a Windows-based environment.
- Experience in applying purchasing procedures.
- Experience in responding to work-related inquiries.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field plus two years of full-time qualifying experience in social and rehabilitative services work, teaching and counseling persons with disabilities, social services, medical eligibility, or entitlement programs.
- Twelve semester hours of graduate study from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of the required qualifying experience.
- One additional year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required college.

Duty requires up to 10% travel within the state of Texas and the ability to lift 10 pounds.
