The workOpen Train is hiring two licensed speech-language pathologists for remote, part-time contract work supporting speech-sound practice software for children, teens, and adults. The main focus is lisp and the S and Z sounds.
You will label short, de-identified audio clips of single S and Z words in a secure project portal. Most clips are from children and teens and are shared by their families; adult clips may be added when adults choose to share them.
You will also occasionally review word lists, practice tips, and product claims about lisp. You will not give guidance about a specific speaker or contact families or speakers.
- Choose one speech-sound label: target-like, frontal (interdental), dentalized, lateral, palatal, or can't tell.
- Add a recording-quality flag to each clip.
- Work is remote, part time, and expected to take a few hours per week for 3 to 6 months.
- All labeling takes place in the secure project web portal. Recordings and files are not exchanged on Open Train.
- Before hearing any recording, sign the contributor, confidentiality, and data terms.
This is expert-level contract work for individual freelancers. The role requires current professional registration that can be checked on your country's official public register.
- Paid test and paid calibration round: $25 USD per hour.
- Live labeling: $30 to $45 USD per hour, based on calibration results.
- Each clip batch is set up as a fixed-price milestone based on your hourly rate and is paid through Open Train after the batch is approved.
- Open to applicants in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and India.
- Fluent English is required.
- You must be a licensed speech-language pathologist with current registration, such as ASHA CCC-SLP or a US state license, HCPC, a Canadian provincial college registration, Speech Pathology Australia, CORU, NZSTA, or RCI.
- Experience assessing speech sound disorders in children or adults is required; lisp experience is preferred.
- Experience with Indian English or other English accents is a plus.
- Individual freelancers only. Agencies are not eligible.
