The R2 team is at the heart of Cloudflare's developer platform, building and maintaining our robust object storage solution. R2 provides developers with a durable, reliable, and highly integrated storage platform that seamlessly connects with Cloudflare Workers and our broader compute ecosystem. We are responsible for foundational infrastructure that operates at an immense scale, powering critical workloads across Cloudflare's global network.

Our work involves designing and maintaining sophisticated distributed systems that ensure high throughput, strong consistency, and unparalleled durability, all while supporting a rapidly expanding suite of developer-facing features.

You’ll be joining a highly motivated and collaborative team that owns the full stack of R2
. We thrive on tackling the most complex challenges in distributed systems, with an unwavering focus on reliability, performance, and global scale.

As a key technical leader on the R2 team, you will:

• Define Technical Direction: Architect and set the technical strategy for some of Cloudflare's most critical and complex infrastructure projects within R2.
• Drive Architectural Decisions: Lead large-scale architectural discussions and decisions that impact multiple teams and services across Cloudflare.
• Engineer Scalable Systems: Design, implement, and optimize distributed systems that operate reliably under extreme load and at massive, global scale.
• Solve Ambiguous Problems: Lead technical investigations, breaking down complex and ambiguous challenges into clear, actionable plans.
