Orama has partnered with an Austin-based company that is modernizing the debt collection industry. They have a platform that automates digital outreach for debt agencies, removing friction, improving recovery rates, and ensuring full regulatory alignment. With a $3.5M run‑rate and growing quickly, they are building the first platform (with basically zero competitors) that owns the full payment portal ecosystem, combining automation, compliance, and intelligent communication workflows.

Location: Austin, TX (4 days onsite, 1 day remote + core hour work schedule 9:30am - 3:30pm)

Position: Full-time, direct hire (this role is NOT open to C2C or sponsorship at this time)

We’re looking for a mid–senior level Backend Engineer to help design, build, and scale the core services that power our platform. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced startup environment, enjoys solving complex backend problems, and wants to work end‑to‑end across distributed systems, infrastructure, and data.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices responsible for high-volume, high-reliability workloads.
• Build scalable, efficient services in Go (or transition into Go within your first 30–45 days if your background is in Java or another C-family language).
• Write SQL queries, troubleshoot database bottlenecks, and improve performance across the stack.
• Architect service boundaries and participate in system design for distributed systems.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ship features end-to-end.
• Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure tooling when needed.
• Help define engineering best practices and mentor peers.
• Frontend: ReactJS
• Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Ansible

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and operating microservices in production.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals
  , service design, data flows, and debugging complex backend issues.
• OOP design pattern knowledge.
• Proficiency with SQL and comfort analyzing and optimizing queries.
• CS degree preferred; equivalent experience and strong fundamentals welcomed.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies especially Go if coming from Java/C++/C# backgrounds.
• Bonus: experience with Terraform, Ansible, AWS, Dev Ops tooling, or backend observability.
