Engineering Lead – Android
At Atmosphere TV, we’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to guide the development of our next‑generation custom hardware and Android platform. This role sits at the heart of how our product comes to life in 60,000+ venues worldwide, from the devices that stream our content to the systems that keep them running flawlessly.
This position reports to the CTO, is on‑site in Austin, TX, and requires availability in‑office 4‑5 days a week. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities- Be intrinsically motivated, naturally curious, and enjoy seeking out new problems. Drive novel solutions with groups of other engineers.
- Lead development of Atmosphere’s custom hardware and Android platform from technical requirements through production, managing timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Manage vendor relationships proactively – anticipate needs, drive clear communication, and partner with them to deliver solutions that keep our team focused on product development.
- Work cross‑functionally with key stakeholders (product, design, data, customer support, sales, content, etc.) to design and deliver robust, reliable software solutions.
- Leverage excellent technical skills to improve systems and uplevel those around you.
- Collaborate with other engineers to make us better, faster, and stronger.
- Champion best practices, develop engineering culture, and influence outside your direct team within the engineering organization.

- Computer Science degree or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
- 6+ years delivering world‑class, customer‑facing products with increasing technical leadership responsibilities.
- Proven track record managing vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teams and interface with senior leadership.
- Strong coding skills with ability to contribute significantly to production codebases and comprehend existing systems quickly.
- Deep understanding of full‑stack development and system interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to work across departments, tools, and codebases to own outcomes.
- Experience with cloud‑native architectures and containerized applications.
- Experience in Android application development with deep expertise in Android SDK, Kotlin/Java, modern architecture patterns, and complex application lifecycle management.
- Experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP), including building custom Android images, platform modifications, or system‑level customization.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance development productivity.
- Track record of successfully navigating complex, multi‑team technical projects.
