Job Description
Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building services that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi‑tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best‑in‑class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever‑expanding set of foundational cloud‑based services.
We’re looking for hands‑on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems and highly available services. This position is expected to be onsite full time in Nashville, TN. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the software design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure.
- Dive deep into any part of the stack and low‑level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions.
- Value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
- Building software solutions in an engineering environment using C, C++, Python, Java, Shell Scripting, and JavaScript.
- Experience with RDBMS such as MySQL, Postgre
SQL or No
SQL databases. - Object oriented design and object oriented programming.
- Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Microservices hosted in leading cloud environments, AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Containerized applications, Docker, Kubernetes or similar application.
- Develop and troubleshoot large scalable distributed systems written in C and C++ on Linux platforms.
- Distributed systems design.
- RESTful API design.
- Strong understanding of event streaming platforms like Apache Kafka.
- Strong grasp of Kubernetes.
- Experience in a start‑up environment.
- Experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Strong grasp of Unix‑like operating systems.
