About the role
We are searching for a mid-level or senior Software Engineer who wants to work at the intersection of energy data, SaaS, and climate tech.
Experience in energy markets, utilities, carbon accounting, or direct REC management is a strong plus—but not required. What matters most is technical excellence, curiosity, ownership, and collaborative spirit.
As part of a remote-first engineering team, you will play a core role in building the future of energy and emissions intelligence. You will design, develop, and scale the systems that power Cleartrace’s platform used by utilities, Fortune 500 companies, energy buyers, and sustainability leaders.
What you'll do
- Build and enhance core features of Cleartrace’s energy and REC management platform
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data Engineering, and Design teams to deliver customer-centric solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and data integrity
- Contribute to architectural decisions across our platform
- Work in a fast-paced environment where shipping value is celebrated
- Help shape engineering culture and mentor junior engineers (for senior candidates)
Qualifications / Who You Are
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer (mid-level) or 6+ years (senior)
- Skilled in modern frontend frameworks (Vue, React, or similar)
- Architect and implement backend solutions, including API development, database modeling, query optimization, and integration with internal and external services
- Comfortable owning features end-to-end—from design to deployment
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- Strong understanding of relational databases (Postgre
SQL a plus) - Thrive in a collaborative, remote-first culture
- Pragmatic, thoughtful, and able to balance speed with quality
- Motivated by solving meaningful real-world problems in the climate/energy space
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior knowledge of energy systems, CFE methodologies and GHG standards, or REC management (huge plus but not required)
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, deployment workflows
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker)
