Base pay range

$106,400 – $159,600 per year

The Role

Do you thrive in complex and innovative software development? If so, we have an awesome opportunity for an experienced Firmware Development Engineer with a focus on SoC firmware development, system level control and ASIC debug. You will be responsible for the full complement of AMD’s APU and CPU designs, developing features and driving continuous improvement in all areas.

The Person

We are looking for an individual that loves embedded software, inspired by AI/ML and excited to contribute to firmware of AI/ML. You will thrive in cross‑team collaboration and debugging low‑level firmware and silicon‑related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume end‑to‑end responsibility for post‑silicon activities related to firmware in modern CPU/APU products.
  • Work with other teams to implement end‑to‑end AI/ML features and maintain optimal performance.
  • Participate in debugging and solving system‑level issues that may occur in either test environments or real SOC products.
  • Participate in cross‑team efforts to evaluate and optimize IPU’s performance and power consumption.
  • Proactively drive improvements in quality. Review the team’s code and deliverables.
  • Take on new and challenging projects in areas new to the industry or new to AMD.
Required Experience
  • 6+ years of hands‑on programming in C / C++ and Python / other scripting languages.
  • 6+ years of experience debugging embedded software / firmware, must have experience debugging hardware‑related issues.
  • 6+ years of driving positive changes in a software development group, improving test and quality practices.
  • 6+ years of hands‑on developing and debugging firmware for ARM, Tensilica, RISC‑V.
  • Experienced with MMU, DMA, and its applications.
  • Good knowledge and experience with RTOS.
  • Good understanding of computing support behind AI/ML.
  • Demonstrate exceptional strong analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Tools:
    Git, Linux, etc.
Academic Credentials

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science.
