Senior Java Developer will work on full‑stack Java applications on HHSC’s cloud (Azure/AWS) platform within an Agile Scrum environment. This hands‑on role provides technical direction to team members, mentors junior developers, and handles coding, testing, peer reviews, documentation, and troubleshooting across multiple environments. The role requires maintaining code coverage, testing standards, security policies, and is available for on‑call support as needed.

Availability to work from an HHSC office in Austin three or more days per week is required.

• Oversee architectural design, planning, production support, and customer services for custom software systems, existing production & development applications, and statewide and interagency interfaces. (35%)
• Oversee coding, testing, and debugging of programs and preparation of test data. (20%)
• Provide technical advice and assistance to management and technical staff in analysis and programming activities, including advanced business process expertise. (20%)
• Assist in planning, scheduling, assigning, and coordinating analysis and programming activities, ensuring alignment of new applications with agency standards. (10%)
• Formulate business policies, procedures, and standards consistent with agency standardization efforts and coordinate with project managers and subject matter experts. (10%)

• Minimum 8 years experience in Java OOP (Core Java, JDBC, Spring Boot, Angular or React).
• Minimum 8 years experience designing enterprise applications/services.
• Minimum 8 years experience leading enterprise Java development teams.
• Minimum 8 years experience in applications development on J2EE platform.
• Minimum 8 years experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API development.
• Minimum 8 years experience with Spring Aspect‑Oriented Programming (transaction management and security).
• Minimum 8 years experience writing SQL, including No
  
  SQL databases.
• Minimum 8 years experience with React or Angular UI Framework.
• Minimum 4 years experience with Power
  
  BI.
• Minimum 4 years experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git Lab, Git Hub Actions).
• Minimum 3 years experience with Agile methodology (Scrum).
• Minimum 2 years experience with Crystal Reports.
• Education:
  
  Four‑year college or university degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience (up to 4‑year substitution).

• JUnit, Mockito, and Selenium testing frameworks.
• Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Additional experience with CI/CD pipelines.

• Must be willing to work from an HHSC office in Austin 3 or more days per week.
